What is a Canoe, Kayak or Paddle Board?
We have a guide waiting to explain everything
here
How do I know if you have availability?
Our pages have calendars with up to the minute availability. If you do not see your desired time or the number of canoes, kayaks or paddle boards you need, then it is very likely to not be available. In that instance, please do email us at
info@thecanoeman.com and we can see if there is something we can help with.
How do I make a booking?
Our bookings are done exclusively online.
For our hires –
- Select your preferred location.
- Scroll down to the calendar and select your desired date.
- Select your duration on the top of the price list.
and we can see if there is something we can help with.
- Select your desired time and crafts and add to basket, calendars show up to date availability.
- The basket is where you will enter any gift vouchers or discount codes. Continue to checkout when ready.
- Complete the safety details we need on our checkout page and then proceed to payment.
- Complete payment and start looking forward to your trip on the water!
For Guided bookings, select your desired number of adults and children by adding them to the basket. Follow the directions above once you have reached the basket page.
If you are having issues, then please do contact us at 07873748408 or email at
info@thecanoeman.com and we will talk you through the process as necessary.
What is the minimum age?
This is more dictated by size - we have to be happy that your child is completely secure in a fully approved buoyancy aid. Ours usually fit children down to about the age of 4. If you have your own CE approved Buoyancy Aids you should be OK to use them subject to our instructors approval.
How fit do I need to be?
No set level of fitness is required - in fact paddling is an excellent method of getting mild aerobic exercise. Please advise us of any conditions that you have that maybe relevant to the activity you are undertaking i.e. Asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, allergies, heart conditions etc. If you have any concerns please call.
Can I have a refund if I need to cancel my booking?
Refunds for cancellations will be made as follows: -
- Cancellations less than 5 weeks before the start date OF THE ORIGINAL BOOKING, 40% of full payment will be refunded.
- Cancellations less than 3 weeks before the start day 25% of full payment will be refunded.
- Cancellations less than 2 weeks before the start day no refunds will be made.
There will be no refunds for early returns, poor weather, or non-usage.
Due to insurance restrictions, we are unable to hire canoes, kayaks or paddleboards when the water is under 10°C. Due to this, please be aware when booking in the colder months that we may need to reschedule a booking at the last minute.
Can I reschedule my booking?
Yes! You absolutely can. Within your confirmation email is all the information needed to change the date and time of your booking up to 72 hours before the date in question.
Within 72 hours please contact
info@thecanoeman.com. Bookings moved within 72 hours of their paddle time are subject to a £20 admin fee.
Does the event get cancelled in the case of bad weather?
Unless the weather is extreme your canoe trail will most likely go ahead - please dress accordingly. If in any doubt please contact us before leaving home to confirm.
I have a large group; how do I book?
Large groups are welcome to book online using our booking system. If you find there is not enough boats for your group, then please do contact
info@thecanoeman.com. We will do our best to accommodate your group.
Due to previous issues, group bookings may require a damage deposit. A member of staff will be in touch after you have made your booking to go through this process. If you would like to know if your group may need to pay a damage deposit before booking, then we recommend getting in touch with us via email at
paul@thecanoeman.com.
What happens if I am running late for my booking?
TheCanoeMan understands life happens and we would love to be able to extend bookings for people who are running late, but sadly we can only guarantee your craft for the duration of your booking. If you enter the water late then we will not be able to extend your time, as it is very likely your craft is booked out very shortly after your planned return time.
Are you Dog Friendly?
We do allow dogs on most of our hires. If an activity does not have the option to add a dog to your booking, then sadly it is not available.
Can I drink alcohol in your boats?
The drinking of alcohol is strictly forbidden whilst using any of our crafts.
There are laws in place that cover being under the influence of alcohol and operating canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards like the ones we hire, similar to those in place for driving. If you do choose to stop during your hire and enjoy an alcoholic beverage, then please do keep in mind these rules and if you wouldn’t drive then you should not be going on to the water.
We reserve the right to refuse rental to anybody believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. No refunds will be offered in these circumstances.
