Fancy a weekend adventure in nature? This 2-day expedition takes you on a journey into the wilderness; winding through the backwaters of the Norfolk Broads, with a night under the stars. This course combines canoeing and bushcraft to create the perfect adventure weekend suitable for all experience levels. Throughout the experience, you will have a friendly, qualified guide leading you through the weekend.
Our guided bushcraft canoe trails allow you to access unreachable stretches of The Broads and get closer to nature. This 2-day, 1-night course will allow you to learn the basics of canoeing and pick up some bushcraft/camp craft techniques simultaneously.
We will be meeting at our canoe base in Wroxham at approximately 9:30 am, where we will then take you up to the top stretches of the winding River Bure. Once everyone is on the water we will begin the roughly 12km journey down the river to set up camp for the night in our wild campsite - WildWood. When we arrive, the bushcraft sessions and setting up camp will begin. The evening will consist of setting up tarps for the night, basic firelighting skills and cooking dinner over the fire.
The following morning we will regroup after a hearty breakfast. It may be possible to look at more bushcraft skills depending on timings. We then break camp and continue our journey down the river winding our way through the broads system - stopping off at points of interest and wildlife spotting en route. The day will finish back in Wroxham at approximately 4 pm, where your vehicle will be waiting for you.
That night we would bivvy overnight in the deepest darkest depths of Norfolk under Tarps (tents might be available if you have any real wusses!!). This will be the opportunity to learn some mystical Bushcraft, including firelighting skills, cooking over an open fire, etc. The degree of Bushcraft Skills / Backwoods cooking etc. can be adjusted to suit your current experience levels (from complete beginner to expert) - please advise of any specific requirements.
We will probably go for an evening paddle - there will be some great opportunities for wildlife spotting / photography at this time of the evening. Later that evening the may wish to partake in camp fire stories and adult beverages! We supply one glass of wine to go with dinner but please feel free to bring your favourite tipple along.
The following morning after a hearty breakfast we will regroup. Dependent on time possible look at more Bushcraft type skills. We then break camp and continue our journey down the river winding our way through the broads system - stopping off at points of interest and wildlife spotting on route. This programme would be repeated on subsequent days - working our way through the broads. On the last day we would normally finish at 4pm (but this is flexible) and return you to your vehicle(s).
